90 minutes, Documentary, M

What is ‘The Wolfpack’ you ask? If like me, it reminds you of THE HANGOVER film’s quartet, and you perhaps wonder if THE WOLFPACK is some sort of spin-off? No. What is The Wolfpack? It is the nickname given to the Brothers in this very compelling documentary. The Angulo boys, who live in a Manhattan apartment with their Mother & Father, all share something rather uncommon, in common. They barely step foot beyond their front door. The only door to the outside world these boys are allowed access is via movies and they escape into this world by reenacting several of their favourites, all within the walls of their rather confined apartment. It is when one of the brothers escapes that changes everything for the Angulo family.

Director Crystal Moselle offers audiences an intimate and honest insight into the private lives of the Angulo family which is quite often, subtly disturbing. Throughout THE WOLFPACK, Moselle questions each family member on their past and present experiences and we learn some pretty valuable information surrounding just how and why the Angulo family live the way they do. Her open-minded direction ensures the audience have full capacity to understand this bizarre lifestyle and some concerning living conditions. For those, who like myself, are especially attentive to the psychological aspects and effects that take place and live on with what people experience in life, a highly fascinating and educational film awaits.
